In 1967, heating coils were installed under the playing surface to keep the field warm and soft so that it never freezes over. However, while fans must brave the elements from the stands, the playing surface doesn’t actually freeze. Since then, the Packers have had plenty of other games that were played in sub-zero temperatures in northern Wisconsin. Lambeau Field has long had the nickname of “Frozen Tundra.” The nickname comes from the famous 1967 Ice Bowl between the Packers and Cowboys that was played in temperatures that were 15 below zero and a wind chill around -50. As a person of "Color", I was accepted and greeted as any other person would be accepted. Lambeau Field is a masterpiece and a perfect place to watch a football game. We met some of the most friendliest and kindest people we have ever met. So, fast forward to game day on 10/24/21.we experienced our greatest sports event of our lives. This man was the most friendly person we have ever met as he gave us an impromptu tour of Lambeau Field in leading us to the place that we needed to be to meet our group for the Packers Experience Stadium Tour. We stumbled upon a nice gentleman with the last name of Valentine on that Saturday. The Packers Experience was a bit disorganized so we needed to do some extra work to get things to fall into place on the Saturday before game day. Purchased the Packers Experience package to tour the stadium before game day and a meet and greet with breakfast on game day. Traveled to Green Bay after landing in Chicago, short flight to Milwaukee then driving to Green Bay.
